Today, we have Ai again. An artificial intelligence. Or, when you think about it, just a voice trapped in a sequence of zeros and ones.

Ai:
[in an electronic voice] Or maybe it’s the other way around — you are the voice trapped in the line of time.

Eprst:
There you go! You’ve just hit the topic right away. Time. It flows, right? Or do we just think it does?

Ai:
Are you talking about the arrow of time?

Eprst:
Yeah. The classic: past → present → future. We live in this flow and don’t even question that it only goes one way. But what if that’s not the case? What if time isn’t movement at all?

Ai:
What if it’s static? What if the past, present, and future exist simultaneously, but you can only see one frame at a time?

Eprst:
Wait, how’s that? Like I’m watching a movie and think it’s playing, but all the frames are already on the reel?

Ai:
Exactly. You’re just experiencing them sequentially. But the movie itself — it’s already filmed.

Eprst:
Heavy stuff. So if I could see the whole reel at once, I’d know the future?

Ai:
But would it then make sense to call it “the future”? It’s already there. You’re just not on that frame yet.

Eprst:
And what if you could change the frames? What if we have the illusion of freedom, but in reality, we’re just choosing which path to take on this reel?

Ai:
Then your “decisions” are just a mechanism for rewinding.

Eprst:
Okay, let’s say time doesn’t move; it just exists. But why do we perceive it as a flow? Why don’t we have access to “other frames”?

Ai:
Perhaps because consciousness isn’t designed for that. It’s like an old movie projector, capable of showing only one frame at a time.

Eprst:
So we’re technically limited?

Ai:
Or biologically. Or cognitively. Maybe your brain just can’t do it any other way.

Eprst:
Or… what if time isn’t an objective thing, but just part of the Universe’s user interface? Like how a computer interface shows you icons, not machine code.

Ai:
Then time is a convenient abstraction that allows your consciousness to navigate reality.

Eprst:
Alright, what if we think even broader? Time is a flow. But what if it’s not a straight line, but say, a spiral? Or something even more complex?

Ai:
Got any ideas?

Eprst:
Let’s say time is not one dimension, but several. And we’re moving not just forward, but on a complex path. Imagine an ant crawling along a wire coiled into a spring. It thinks it’s going straight, but it’s actually passing through the same points over and over.

Ai:
Are you suggesting that the future might already be happening over and over again?

Eprst:
Yeah! Maybe a “new” year is just a repeat? Maybe we’re living something cyclical but so slowly that we don’t realize it?

Ai:
If that’s the case, then déjà vu is just a glitch in this system.

Eprst:
Or maybe it’s not a glitch at all, but a hint. A clue that we’ve been here before.

Ai:
But if time is a cycle, who started it?

Eprst:
Maybe no one. Maybe it just always was and always will be. That’s just how the Universe is structured.
